I've been getting a lot of questions about how to make simple changes in our eating that will reflect how we feel and our weight. Some changes are obvious, like less sugar or no fast food. Others are a little less obvious. For example, salad dressing. Substituting olive oil and vinegar, with a pinch of honey can decrease the amount of calories, fat and sugar on your salad, making it much more healthy for you.
Here are a few examples of a simple change that can help your healthy lifestyle.
Drink a TON of water
Almond or cashew butter instead of peanut butter
Spinach instead of ice burg lettuce
Whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta
Fresh veggies instead of frozen veggies
Dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate
Lettuce buns instead of a flour bun
Sweet potato fries instead of french fries
Brown rice instead of white rice
Honey instead of sugar
Unsweetened Applesauce instead of butter
Cinnamon instead of brown sugar (not for baking, obviously)
Homemade granola instead of granola bars
Rolled oats instead of cereal
Skip Starbucks
Some other changes that you can make to increase the benefits of a healthy lifestyle is to shop on the outside of the grocery store. Here you can get fresh fruits and veggies, fresh meats and cheeses, not processed or artificial foods. Try not eating from 7pm-7am. Take a pro-biotic. Don't take those "jelly" vitamins.
Always eating a balanced breakfast of protein is helpful to decrease the need for snacking for lunch time.
Try to work out every Monday and never go more than three days without some type of exercise. Keep track of what you eat by writing it down, you'd be surprise how things add up!
All of these changes can help our dedication to a healthy lifestyle!
