Time keeps on ticking, ticking… into the future!
Anyone remember that
song? We all just changed the clocks ahead and lost that precious hour of
sleep. Don’t we all reminisce of how
time flies by so fast. We’re busy with
life and before we know it, we’re sitting in the passenger seat freaked out
while our kid is driving!
It’s so vital to take time
and reflect on goals and resolutions that we once promised to fulfill. It’s already March 14th and I
forgot what my New Year’s resolution was! When we wait, we soon forget what our
goal once was. I struggle with
procrastination, and I guess that’s why God gave me a Johnny on the spot
husband, Jeff who doesn’t blink an eye when it comes to accomplishing
things. He always calls his clients back
so fast they are stunned; yes he is a bit extreme at times, and not perfect but
he gets it done!
Last Saturday we were sitting
in the warm sun at a soccer tournament—admiring a nice red and white umbrella
covering a lady next to us. I was thinking;
we could really use one of those since all of our bargain ones have fallen
apart. Suddenly, my husband advances to
ask the lady with the umbrella, “Where did you get that umbrella?” She explains how versatile and reliable it
has been; it has a strong base so you never have to worry about it flying away
in the wind and knocking someone out.
Okay, we’re totally sold on this fantastic umbrella. Well I am thinking it would be a good to have
since we’re about to be baking in the sun pretty soon with the all the soccer
games planned for the spring. I continued
to glance back at the game a bit, then started checking my email, and moments
later I see a paypal receipt from Joe’s Shades & Umbrellas! “Wow; seriously Jeff, you already bought
one”?!! He says… “No grass grows under
my feet.” Well it sure is good to not
procrastinate, but sometimes motivation can cause us to be a bit impulsive
too. That’s why I try to make living a
balanced life my motto. And I said TRY! J
Procrastination is defined as
to defer action; delay; to procrastinate until an opportunity is lost.
Wow, that last part strikes a
chord. Many of us have put things off
that are difficult, boring, and scary.
And perhaps have lost major opportunity.
When we look at procrastination relating to our health and fitness, it’s
not as easy as buying that lovely umbrella.
It’s a tough thing for many to start, but what are we waiting for? What’s holding us back? Excuses… “I’ll start Monday!” Is it laziness, fear? We tend to go through our usual life routine
expecting results and change; round and round the same mountain. Insanity; right!? It’s robbing our future. If we do not start moving now, we sure will
regret it in our later years. I talk to
elderly people at the gym regularly who tell me, Oh I wish I would have started
exercising when I was younger. I wish we
had these classes years ago!
Procrastination will bind you
in chains, ever pressing on your mind and emotions, and then suck the energy
right from ya. Focus on that feeling of accomplishment--completing something
from the to-do list which has been there for months. Amazing; right?! Oftentimes, I could kick myself; if I just
took 20 minutes to do that task then I would have saved so much strife from my
day as I continued to glance at the list for so long. So as
you look ahead and desire to make change for your health or other areas of your
life, write down thoughts that came to mind as you read this. I hope it has sparked you in some way to make
your move; to ignite your dream and start your journey to experiencing pure joy
and success.
