About 6 weeks ago I
reluctantly called the landscape company to deliver 8 yards of pine bark to
spruce up the yard. It was a big job
that I didn’t want to do, but I wanted the yard to look beautiful once
again. The day before the delivery I had
to cancel because something else popped up that was more important. So, I rescheduled it for 2 weeks later. Guess what?
Something else took precedence over the hideous looking yard, and again
I HAD to cancel. Well finally when the
schedule was clear & I was sort of feelin’ it; I called to reset the
delivery date and the order could not be located! Ugh! I had to start all over again. The original call was so long ago that I
couldn’t even remember how much bark I originally ordered. Now it’s Saturday morning bright and early
and the truck pulls up and finally dumps 8 yards of bard on my driveway—it was
a mountain. Seriously overwhelming and I thought we will be here till tomorrow
afternoon! I sipped my second cup of
coffee and now it was time to get everyone outside to help because this was a
serious project. It’s going to be a family
fun day~ ya right! The kids were
moaning, I was miserable, but the dreaded landscape was way overdue and now 10
degrees hotter with extreme humidity; the time had come. After an hour of shoveling and spreading pine
bard, the “mountain” didn’t even move an inch.
My kids were fighting, we all were panting, but I had an idea. I will bribe them with a yummy lunch. Okay, so they were a little happier and
somewhat motivated and they worked a little quicker and we did made it to
lunch. After this nice break, I was
beginning to feel accomplished; the mountain was beginning to diminish; there will
be an end today!
Soon thereafter, I was pulling out some weeds, waiting for the
next wheel barrel to come my way, I began to think about discipline and how my
kids need to do more around the house and establish a good work ethic. After all, I had to do it as a kid, and now
looking back I am glad my parents established strong discipline throughout my
childhood. A few minutes later I came across a ton of torpedo grass that is almost impossible to
pull out from the root so I got on my knees to dig up the soil so I could
release the deep roots. As I stayed
there and “patiently” dug, and had some success, I had a moment which lead to
writing this blog. Why can’t some of us
start a goal? We think about it, dream
about it….I wish I could be exercising, I should eat better for my health and
my clothes to fit again. What is that
goal we wish we could accomplish? At times, we need someone else’s help. Sometimes we need to take the time to dig deep
in our heart and face reality--get to the root.
Perhaps we need to ask God to gives us strength.
You have to want it bad
enough! First, you have to SEE IT!
Once you get ready to jump
out of your comfort zone and set a goal, it helps to write it down. Now you have a picture of the end
result. You must actually visualize it,
then your emotions will rise up. You can
see yourself overcoming it and beginning to believe it. Your mind is so powerful that your
imagination can take you beyond what you perceive the facts to be. Your mind is like a train leading you to
where your thoughts are, so line up your thoughts to your end result. Take responsibility for your thoughts. Next, you have to SAY IT! Speak it out loud
and hear yourself. Stop rehearsing the negative thoughts and break the pattern by
speaking positive. Say it over and over again—yes, talk to
yourself out loud and visualize the picture. Finally, SIEZE
IT! Be purposeful in your plan and get help and accountability from a good
friend, trainer, etc… Don’t just say
“I’ll give it a whirl and see how it goes.”
You are a picture away from your dream.
Stick to the vision; take action, and follow your dreams. SEE IT,
SAY IT, SIEZE IT!
“Where there is no vision; the people
perish.” (Proverbs 29:18).
